Do real men read pink???

When the cover for my next book arrived, I couldn't wait to open the file to see the finished product. Then I simply stared. Don't get me wrong. I like the cover...I just didn't expect it to be so, well, pink.

Royal Target is different than anything I've ever written before. It has been a lot of fun throughout the writing process, the main character proving to be an unusual balance between carefree and dedicated. I also thoroughly enjoyed writing about the CIA life that I was once a part of. (You can all decide how much is based on fact and how much is pure fiction.)

Since all of my previous books were targeted for the suspense genre, I was understandably surprised to see a romantic style of book cover. This is especially true since the past several edits of this novel had been focused on helping me beef up the suspense.

Still, I think the cover does capture the fun and romance that is a significant part of the story. It fits the book perfectly with one possible exception. Will the men who traditionally read my novels be willing to read this one...and will they dare be seen in public reading a pink book? I'd love to hear all of your opinions on this one!

I love the cover. When I was emailed my first cover, it was pink, and I went Ah! It's pink. That took a little getting used to as well. Pink does stand out and get people's attention. I wouldn't worry about it. Your name speaks for itself.

It's pink, that's for sure. But REAL men-- you know, the kind who READ-- will surely be PROUD to be seen reading it in public! I like it!

hi trace ~

this is amusing. hey, there is one guy at my work -- bob and he proudly wears a pink polo shirt. i called him pink bob this week and he was smiley. and he is definitely manly.

it's a catchy cover. don't worry girl. maybe this is just exactly what is needed for this particular book :)

Traci, I haven't met you, but I did get the chance to review this book with my work with Covenant. I loved it. It was the first of your work that I have read (of course I am now trying to get my hands on all your books). Fabulous job! I think that the cover is perfect!

Well, they might not read it in public, but they'll be reading it at home! You're awesome at suspense and they'd be stupid to pass this by just because it's pink.

They must have changed the cover recently. In the Covenant Fall Preview it was a black cover. But this cover is good too.

Oh! Hey, you've written about this before. Curiously, I was looking for someone completely different when Google suggested this.
